Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" (John 8:12). Believers are indwelt by Christ in the person of the Holy Spirit (1 John 4:13-15). Since Jesus went to be at the right hand of the Father (Romans 8:34), the only way people in the world can see His light is by the reflection in His followers. Thus Christ’s followers are now "the light of the world" (Matthew 5:14) and we are commanded to show the world our faith in Christ. Jesus said, "whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 10:32-33). Please note: "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).
