God’s Word is our instruction book for living (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Bible gives us God’s principles for an abundant life in this world but more importantly it reveals Jesus Christ to us so that we may have eternal life. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life" (John 8:12). Applying God’s Word to your life keeps you from making serious errors. But if you continue to avoid the light of God’s Word, you will eventually suffer as a result: "if one walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him" (John 11:10). And don’t wait for greater illumination of the Lord before you respond to Him. A candle by the door in a dark room is enough for you to find the door: "Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going" (John 12:35). Given that Jesus is "the light of the world" (John 8:12, 9:5), "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31).
